By booking a PAT test with Unboxed Electrical, you agree to the following terms:
01 Scope of Work
- Testing Standard Services include a formal visual inspection and manual electrical testing of portable appliances using calibrated PAT testing equipment, carried out in accordance with the IET Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.
- Documentation We will provide a digital Certificate and a detailed Asset Register upon completion and payment.
02 Client Responsibilities
- Access The client must ensure all appliances are accessible. We will not move heavy furniture or equipment unless previously agreed in writing.
- Data Backup It is the client’s responsibility to back up any data on IT equipment before testing. Unboxed Electrical is not liable for data loss caused by the necessary power-down required for testing.
- Authorisation The client must ensure that a person of authority is present to allow the temporary disconnection of essential equipment.
03 Failed Equipment
- Labelling Any appliance that fails the safety test will be clearly labelled with a “FAIL” sticker and reported to the site representative immediately.
- Client Liability Once an item has failed, it is the sole responsibility of the client to ensure the item is removed from service. Unboxed Electrical accepts no liability for any injury or damage caused by the continued use of an appliance after a failed test result.
04 Repairs
- Minor Repairs Minor repairs (e.g., replacing a standard 13A plug or a fuse) may be carried out at the time of testing and will be charged at the rate specified in our initial quote.
- Limitations We do not undertake internal repairs to the circuitry of appliances.
05 Limitations of Testing
A PAT test is a “snapshot” of the appliance’s safety at the exact time of testing. We cannot guarantee the safety of an appliance after we have left the site, as faults can develop due to subsequent misuse or wear and tear.
Regular retesting is recommended to maintain ongoing electrical safety. We can set up an annual re-test reminder as part of our service.
06 Payment & Certification
- Payment Due Payment is due upon completion of the site visit.
- Certificate Release Digital certificates and reports will only be released once the invoice has been paid in full.
07 Cancellation
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a minimum call-out charge to cover time and travel costs already committed.
